can i hook up a PS3 to a monitor that my gaming pc is hook to at the same time? i will only have 1 running at a time

A tv has a input selection , where as a monitor inputs from what is plugged in. not sure. if strictly only one powered up at a time, you could try

Of course you can I used my monitor to play PS3 games for years, then I bought a TV.

As I said it works easily. Even if your computer is running and you want to play your PS3 you can switch between them (depending on your monitor) the Dell monitor im using right now for example has input selection.
