Hello tom's hardware commnity,

Firstly, I'd like to apoligise if this is not the correct category...This is more related to drivers and registry(atleast that's what i think it is) but i couldn't find a category more apt. Also this is long but everything i write here is important to solve the problem I believe.

Since a few days now, my RAM and graphics card are not being detected by sofwares like CPU-Z and Core temp. My CPU spec are shown just fine though but the RAM tab just shows the amount of RAM and nothing else and the graphics tab is completely empty. This is unusual as both tabs did display all the info a while back

Core temp just doesnt start. It gives the error -"Driver has failed to load. This program will not continue"

GPU temp works however and shows My graphics card as it used to.

Speccy can't display CPU RAM Motherboard and graphics. It gives the following error-"CPU dll init failed(error 2)"

It was ok with me that some softwares aren't unable to detect my hardware specs...But it became a serious problem when the new AMD driver installer(Crimson) was unable to detect the system specs. It gives the error "Detection driver error. Contact AMD for support".

I believe all this is pointing in the same direction of some dll error or some registry problems. Atleast that's what i could find on the internet.
Also to be noted that my PSU is failing and i have ordered a new one... PSU shuts off while extreme gaming. Here's the thread for that problem, if thats needed to solve this issue-

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2877428/psu-buy.html

This is really troubling me. I've been trying to play Assassins Creed syndicate and it sucks bad on old drivers so i really need to update them.

My system specs-
CPU- AMD FX-4100
GPU- Sapphire AMD R7 265 2 GB DUAL-X
RAM- 8 GB corsair vengeance (4x2).
Storage- 500 GB Toshiba HDD + 1 TB Seagate HDD.
PSU (current)- I Ball marathon 500w
PSU(ordered)- Antec VP550 550w PSU (80+)

The cpu is 3 and a half years old. the gpu is 6-7 months old. Ram- one stick is 3 and half yrs old . Other is 20 days old(the time I started CPUz after a long time to check RAM and this prolem was first found)

Thanx in advance. I hope i can solve this before my new PSU gets here.

This is not uncommon, and is also often the source of much trouble. Systems that have been in use for long periods of time often have had many past issues, software and driver installations and other file system problems that can lend themselves to new software installations or drivers not wanting to either install or act right. I'd back up all my data and at minimum do a clean install of Windows 7. With your laptop, it's much more likely for adequate drivers to not have been available for Windows 10, causing problems. All your current hardware seems to have adequate Windows 10 drivers available and also, there were many problems during...

Ok so I did the following

1. Run command sfc /scannow command to check for errors in windows files and fix them toh fix spc.dll errors

It did find errors but couldn't fix them and has generated a log in which i can't find the problem.

2.Used ATI CCC to check system info and this actually shows details. Almost all details and has no errors whatsoever.

3. Cleaned the system of any malwares present using malware bytes and hitmanpro. Scanning for viruses right now.

I'm pretty sure this"SPC.dll" is the root cause of the problem. Anyone out there able to help on that ??

Yes Win 7. I believe it to be the best OS for gaming atleast and thus didn't even try win 10 .

Windows 8 shows better performance than 7 in gaming, although the difference is minimal and not consistently higher, but it isn't any lower either. The same applies to 10 versus 8, so 10 therefore should be at least incrementally better than 7, if 8 is better than 7 and 10 is better than 8. Plus, DX12 features are not supported in 7, which leaves you in the dark when it comes to any forthcoming features or driver support.

I'd move to 10, while it's free. You can do a clean install of 10 using your Windows 7 product key now. No need to do the crappy upgrade. This is what I'd recommend as a starting place. (But not until after you install your new power supply)

You can use the mediacreation tool here to download and create installation media:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

The second recommendation I have is to wait to attempt doing any further troubleshooting or upgrading to windows 10 until after you've installed your new power supply. Your iBall PSU is a POS, and may very well likely be the source of your troubles. I've seen such a wide variety of troubles be caused by cheap power supplies that I would not be in the least bit surprised if it was the source of your troubles.

Yes I think ill wait. And about win 10, i have a laptop which got completely screwed up after win 10 so i kinda have trust issues now.
I'll also try a fresh win 7 install tomorrow and see if that solves it. However i prefer having this install as its been a while since i am using it and it feels like home.

I even tried removing the new RAM stick that i got about 20 days ago. Didnt solve anything, so i guess RAM is not the source .
Should i try booting up with no graphic card and see if that works?

That's up to you though. I'd at least do the clean install of 7. Here's how and don't forget to back up important files someplace other than the drive you're installing to.

FINAL SOLUTION!!!

So finally my system is back to normal !

Everyone having similar problems, do not worry! This solution should fix your system too

Do the following-

1. Remove and reinstall your RAM sticks. This did not help me but a lot of people recommend this.

2. Remove all adware and Malware using Malware bytes and hitman pro.

3. Get Windows repair from teaking.com

get it here - http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html

4. Use this sofware to restore your registry (not windows restore!! REGISTRY ONLY). Restore it to a date old enough. I had only one backup available from 8 months ago. I hope you have one too as this is the step that actually solved my problems.

5. select the backup from the drop down list in the restore registry window and wait for the software to do its job. Restart when prompted and voila!

I thank everyone who replied to my question and helped me in any way to solve this issue.

Please share this answer to anyone in need because finding an answer for this issue was very difficult for me as there were no proper steps and verified solutions available on the internet.
