Hi,

My system is around 5 years old, with everything being purchased at the same time. Everything has been working nicely, but all of the sudden, the screen started to go blank this morning. GPU shows red light.

I'm om Win 7, GTX 295, Asus P6T SE and Corsair TX 750w PSU.

I haven't upgraded or added new hardware recently - I've read it could be temp or voltage related, but how can I tell? I didn't have enough time to have a better look at the issue this morning and when I went out, I purchased a new GPU, however I haven't installed it yet because I've then also read that the problem could persist even with new GPU's, if the PSU is to blame.

Right now I'm on an older 9 series Geforce and been running for a while (longer than GTX 295, since the problem first appeared) without issues.

When I first got the red light, I had been running the computer for maybe 1 hour. After each startup, I got red light quicker and quicker - sometimes even before the logon screen would show up.

I wasn't doing anything special in particular - just using the browser when it happened the first time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Solution
It was apparently temperature related and after some cleaning using compressed air, the computer has been running fine for some hours with heavy Photoshop usage (with GPU acceleration enabled).
