Hi there. My friend wants to build a gaming PC that can run the Dolphin Gamecube emulator, at playable speeds. He doesn't do any heavy gaming. My friend doesn't have a lot of money and is on a tight budget, so lowest "Canadian" prices. He just needs to know of a decent budget AMD APU to purchase for Dolphin gamecube & PS2 emulation. That's all. Nothing more. Highest price on an AMD APU he can manage is $120. Thanks in advance!

Well your going to be looking at a amd a10 7700k the price is about 115$ but if he wants to go even cheaper an a8 7670k for 110$ would work as well. You will get good frames out of those APU's with an emulator.

your most likely not going to want to drop to an a6 just because than you really drop off on the performance. When it comes to AMD "cores" are key because the cpu side is the bottleneck for them.

Also a good idea would be to look into overclocking the cpu. You could get away with the a8 7670k and get the performance of an a10 7700k with a good overclock.

For emulation like the dolphin and ps2, dont use AMD cpu, i have the FX 8320 at 4.5 and it run most games slow.

I have bought the pentium g3258+ gtx 960 just for emulations, and it run all game no problem.
Emulation only use 2 cores, the pentium can run dolphin with the iGPU at native resolutions, just overclock it the most you can, i managed to get it at 4.7 but with one expencive board, dont waste money with AMD cpu's if you want to play emulation.
