I just built a new computer and everything seems to be working fine except for the GPU. It's plugged in to the power supply by two VGA cables, one 6 slot and one 8 slot. I've also tried two different PCIe slots on the motherboard. Connecting my monitor to my card via DVI cable only results in it not detecting anything. Is there anything I can do or do I have to send the card back?

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5
CPU: Intel i5 4690k
Power Supply: EVGA Supernova NEX650G
Graphics Card: Geforce GTX 970

Make sure the card is in the top slot, make sure it is seated all the way in to the PCIe slot, make sure the power connectors are plugged in properly, and if it's still not working, it's either a bad motherboard, a bad GPU, or a bad PSU.

Do you have another pc or a friends pc you can try the GPU in? OR, another GPU that you can put in that motherboard?

Gotta start eliminating possibilities somewhere.

I tried my old graphics card (7850) and it worked - I guess that means my 970's busted? Any idea what might have caused it since I don't remember having anything static and I had a faulty motherboard when I first tried my last build.
