Hi guys just purchased this new CPU,,

Are the temps anything to worry about ?
doing an upgrade and 2-3 windows open is at 45-51 degrees
motherboard showing a max of 42 degrees

on windows 10 and with a stock cooler.

That's too high. Your cooler needs to be re-installed and/or the thermal paste re-applied. It should be lower. That's the usual problem with my students at school when they install a cooler. It is possible that one of the four pins is not fully engaged, so check that first.

lodders

Admirable
Stock cooler is enough for an i5, but those 4 plastic push and twist pins are really fiddly to insert correctly.....

Best way to check is to look at the back of your motherboard - if you can see it from within your case.

the heating is pretty hot in my room... i checked the CPU cooler and its pretty stuck in, also checked the back of the mobo and seems like al 4 sloots are tightly in.

i added another fan to my side panel pointing at the cpu as i had one pointed on my GPU (it has 2 slots)

and my idle temps are down to 30-35 degrees :D

airflow is really that important ?

Yes. Airflow is how the heat/thermal energy generated by your components is removed from the case to the outside world. Getting the idle down to 30-35C is good. Thanks for checking the Cooler. Good to know it is installed properly. What is your load temperature now? Close to 40C?

you might want to experiment with moving fans to dofferent locations in the case.

What case do you have and what fans are in it?

i have the Corsair c70, 2 intake at the front, 2 intake from the side panel, 1 exhaust from back, 2 exhaust from top.

Cooler master 120 fans, the back being a corsair all connected to a Fan controller as i didnt have enough cpu fan slots on the motherboard.

Sorry for the noob question but how do i check load temps ?
