Should my cpu be idling at 70c? I feel like that is way too hot.

Alright so I have this processor and I got a BSOD last night. When I went to look into what may have caused it, I noticed my CPU was running extremely hot. It seems to idle at around 70, but when I'm playing any games it shoots up to the 90s. That can't be good right? Do I need a new processor fan maybe?

That is very much too hot.

The first thing to try would be to re-install the CPU heatsink with new thermal paste. It loses its effectiveness over time, so replacing what you have with new would be a good first step. At the same time you can ensure your CPU heatsink is on correctly.

Depending on the ambient room temp. you should be shooting for an idle around 30-40c.
