As the title says. I'm building a new PC and the last part I need is the ram. I can't decide what is the best option for me. I don't even know if my motherboard is a duel or quad motherboard. I prefer to get Corsair ram as I've had horrible luck with G Skill. This is mainly a gaming PC and I'm not opposed to OCing a bit to get best performance.

Here's my specs

6700K 4.0 GHZ
ASUS LGA1151 MAXIMUS VIII HERO motherboard
NVIDIA GTX 970 Gigabyte

I guess the rest isn't needed.

So do I get 4x4 GB = 16 or 2x8 GB = 16? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Usually 2x8GB is better than 4x4GB. The fewer number of modules puts less electrical load on the memory controller. You may be able to have higher memory speeds with just two DIMMs.

That CPU is just a dual channel RAM part anyway, so two DIMMs is just fine.
