Different Power Button Connectors on case/mobo

I was wondering if there was different types of connectors to attach a cases power button to the motherboard. I have a few old pcs and noticed it seems like a different connector. The one is a dell xps d333 and it appears to have a ribbon cable with multiple wires. Another is a ALR Evolution IV which appears to be connected directly to the PSU. The last is a Dell Inspiron 516 which appears to use a connector with multiple wires like the xps d333. I was wondering if newer mobo's would use the same plug as the 519. (I never checked to see if it fits on the d333). If not is their an adapter or kit to convert? There is no rush it is just out of curiousity

For retails builds, no. They are all standardized in the form of a 2-pin connector. But proprietary builds like Dell and others may use proprietary connections to make assembly line building quicker and easier.
