i7 4790k vs i5 4690k

Solution
The i7 will most likely cover your needs the best. It is simply more powerful than the i5, and especially if you do not intend to overclock, the i7 will definitely prove worth it in the long run. Do make sure you have a good aftermarket cooler (212 evo will be fine) and if you are running simulations, a good GPU would work well as well. For this I would say AMD is better than nvidia.

what kind of simulation are you running?

if your only gaming DO NOT get the i7 the i5 is overkill for it

if you only game and are running 1 simulation get the i5 4690k if you are using your pc as a workstation and could use the extra threads then get the i7
