I want to get the i5 4690k, as a matter of a fact, I already purchased the processor, and I'm now looking for a motherboard. I have been told by many that asus is the way to go. I don't feel strong enough about msi or gigabyte. Anyways, which board is good with this processor? There are many out there and I'm not sure which I want to go with. At the moment this is my first pc build, and I will be sticking with the stock cpu fan cooler. I won't upgrade to water cooling for a while. And I don't plan on overclocking for a while also. Although I do want to in the near future. Since this is my first, I don't want to get into something I don't understand just yet, but I do want the option for the future, without spending a fortune in upgrades when i want to. Basically I want my pc to be overclock ready, but I won't use it for a while, in case anyone is nervous about my cooling. That seems to be a deal factor in this for other people, so I figured I'd include it.

Also worthy of mentioning, I had already set my mind on the Asus Maximus Hero Vii. But currently it's out of stock, and im looking for deals now before they end. I also am having doubts on what I should buy.

Admirable
Most of the manufacturers make a range of boards, and most all manufacturers (at least the big names you recognize), make a good quality part at mid to upper price points. Asus is my personal preference, but I've also shopped the deal and had or used almost every manufacturer at one point.

What is the rest of your system going to look like, and what are the major things you do with your PC?

the keyboard is not the one i bought, i bought a utechsmart mercury full color blah blah blah keyboard, It just wasn't listed on pcpartpicker.

I plan to use this system mostly for gaming, and some college work like typing papers and what not.

Rather than creating another thread, my choice has been set on the Asus maximus vii hero. But it's been out of stock for almost a week on almost every site I look at. And I feel when they get back in Stock the price won't be the same, and the websites won't let me buy it until it gets in Stock. My question is, if I got for the Asus z97-A would that be a good board? It's $70 cheaper and it's in Stock. The only thing keeping me from building this pc right now is the motherboard and operating system. Another question on the same topic, for gaming with version of Windows 10 do I need? My brother says I need professional. Is that true? Or is home better? What's your preference?
