How can I determine if my rig supports a low-watt graphics card?

Hey guys,

I am buying this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16859204396

It is a server machine, but it is a good price and I am not going to be playing video games on it whatsoever.

I want to put a graphics card in it since this thing since it has next to nothing, but I don't know if it can support it. The server comes with a 350w power supply

I am going to get this graphics card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500337&cm_re=gt_740-_-14-500-337-_-Product

It recommends a 400w power supply.

Thoughts?

thats a minimum recommendation. key word recommendation. the card its self will only pull about 65w or less since you won't be using it for graphics. 350w will be fine. your system overall shouldn't go over 200w with that card and thats pushing it. on average i'd estimate 150w. ideally you want your power supply to run at about 50% load.

Thank you for the help! I am not looking for a bare minimum solution. I want something that can handle somewhat of a load, but will still be safely within the capabilities of the power supply. This sounds like a card that can do just that. Thanks again.
