I live in Canada & I have this system:
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c01987365

Here is the link that shows the i7 cpu supports 16GB max:
http://ark.intel.com/products/41316/Intel-Core-i7-860-Processor-8M-Cache-2_80-GHz

I wanna change old 6GB Kingston memory with 16GB (4x4GB) G.SKILL memory.
The HP website shows that this PC just supports Dual channel memory architecture, Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered, PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333). I checked the crucial website but it shows that this MB can support PC3-12800 (DDR3-1600) CL9 memories:
http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-elite-hpe-171f

I checked the G.Skill website for DDR3-1600 and found many different types:
http://www.gskill.com/en/finder?cat=31&series=0&prop_4=9-9-9-24-2N&prop_14=DDR3&prop_2=4GB+%284GBx1%29&prop_3=1600MHz

I checked the newegg and found these memories:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&N=100007610%2050008476%20600006127%20600559316%20600006073%20600006157&Manufactory=8476
All the suggested memories are Quad Channel except one Sniper F3-12800CL9Q-16GBSR1.

Here are the questions:
1- What is the difference between Dual and Quad Channel?
2- Are the Quad channel memories compatible with this MB?
3- What is the difference between Ares, Value, Sniper, Ripjaws and RipjawsX?
4- Which is the best choice for replacing? I mean the Sniper? Ares or Ripjaws X?
