Does the Corsair H55 work with the stock amd backplate?

Hi everyone, so I have to get a new cpu cooling system on asus m5a78l for my fx 8350(AM3+). I'm getting a new one because my old arctic freezer extreme broke on me, Yes I've checked all the usual culprits such as the thermal paste etc. Now I need to know if I'll be able to use the stock mounting system that the freezer extreme is already attached to, or at least the stock backplate, so I don't have to remove my entire mobo from the case.

But is it necessary to use the new backplate, or does the old one fit the new retention ring? And if I can't use the old backplate can you suggest a cooling system with which I can. Thx
