I have lenovo h410 motherboard,
intel pentium dual coure 5800 cpu.
Old ram is nanya 4gb (2x2) pc3 10600U-9-10-B0.133.
New ram G.SKILL RipjawsX 8gb (2x4) pc3 - 12800

I can turn the machine on with one stick of each, but it only reads the old 2gb stick. I have CPU Z downloaded to check my memory with it. It registers that i have both sticks in but only the old one is read by the bios.

Solution
Your mobo is a socket 775 and not compatible with the Ripjaws X which are made with high density memory ICs, would look at the GSkill NT line of Value DRAM or maybe the original Ripjaws (not these X sticks or the Z line), the original Ripjaws were made with low density ICs

So could I also just get a different motherboard? If so, how could I tell if the motherboard is compatible with the ram?

If I get the right ram type. Should there be a difference between 1 or 2 sticks?
