I just built a new PC during Black Friday. It runs fine watching YouTube.
So, the PC crashes when I play dota 2 for a while. I haven't tested other games yet.
When it crash, the monitor loses singal, then:

  • ■ Dota 2 background music is still playing, ---music plays for a while---, and BZZZZZZZzzzzz~~~
    ■ music gets stuck (BZZZZZZZzzzzz)

My basic PC Specs are:
PSU: CoolerMaster Elite 550 ver.2
GPU: Asus Strix GTX970 (Idles at 30 C, when playing dota 2 about 40C)
MOBO: Asus z97 - a
CPU: i7 4790k

I am suspecting either GPU defect or PSU not giving enough power, is there anyway to test? What is the proper way to approaching this problem?

the card might not be getting enough power. If you have modular power supply make sure your using the the PCI-E Section of the power supply. another thing you can do is check another PCI-Express lane if you have any available. if that dont work its a defect.

I don't think my PSU is modular...
What do you mean by "it" in "its a defect"? "it" as in the video card? Since my case is a bit small, I probably need to take the MOBO out to test it.
