I recently upgraded my ram and video card, but I've found my computer falling a bit behind on more CPU intensive games. I thought about overclocking my CPU, but after a week of research I still didn't understand the very first step for doing so. The next best step seemed to be buying a new CPU, but the only two upgrades my board can take are stupidly expensive. So what I'd like to know is if there's a CPU/mobo combo I could buy for around $400 that'd be better than what I have right now. Currently I have an I7 930 2.8GHz plugged into an ASUS Rampage 3 Extreme.

Thanks in advance for your help!

if you have a local micro center the 4590 is 160.00. online you fine the 46xx cpu for 199.00-210.00
if you go with a locked cpu the msi pc z97 mate mb is 70.00 there also the asrock h97mb for 70.00

on the z97 mb there are a few if your going to be gaming a lot look at the sabertooth mb without the shield or the rog mb. there also gigbyte gaming mb that are also good.
