What i5/i7 CPU should i get in the future?

My computer specs:
-i5 4460 3.20GHz
-MSI GTX 970 4GB
-Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz 2x4GB Dual Channel 8GB kit
-1920x1080 LG monitor
-500w Corsair CX Bronze
-1TB WCD Hard drive
-ASRock Z97 Anniversary Motherboard (Socket 1150)
-Windows 7 Ultimate

Hi Community

I have sadly thinking about better CPU's lately as my i5 4460 seems to be get high usage in the newest release but still runs kind a okay (I got it 3 months ago to replace a slow FM2 system) I was thinking about the i5-5675C as its new and is a socket 1150 I don't know if it would be compatible with my motherboard though or that much of an improvement, nearly all big games require i7 in there requirements which sucks.

Its just I have always been trying to get a computer that is powerful and doesn't need anything upgrading really. Its constantly annoying.

Are there any socket 1150 CPU's out there I could get in the future to future prove my computer to last longer and play games with a breeze.

Regards

Hello Wayfall. Respecting your build I'd get a i7-4790K. That would be quite the improvement. The difference between the i5 4460 and the i5-5675C is very little. Meanwhile, with the i7-4790K you'd have 4 cores running at 4 GHz with 8 threads which is pretty awesome to be fair and would run most games just fine.
Note: In gaming, the improvement is mostly revealed in the RAM, CPU and GPU (although I think your GPU and RAM are fine, GPU and RAM play a more important role in gaming than CPU imo).
The best of luck!

So say I got the i7 would I see major improvements in CPU and frame rate as I do get stutter when the CPU is close or is at 90% most of the time especially when I play mad max.

Most importantly would I get a big increase in performance on Fallout 4 as I get huge dips, stutter and CPU usage in cities.

Also may I ask is there a way to help me remove a CPU as I find it hard picking CPU'S up out of their socket and I don't want to damage the pins when I eventually upgrade. The only CPU I have found easy to remove was my old systems FM2 CPU.

Also do I need Bios update for the locked version.

Yes, you'd have a greater performance and stability with the i7-4790K as it has 2 times the threads of your current CPU and more frequency.

If I installed a different Intel CPU would I need to uninstall the Intel drivers?

Ram isn't something I really need to upgrade as it has never used more than 5GB really.

The CPU is what needs upgrading as i am hitting such high usages in games such as Fallout 4, Mad Max and Syndicate.

between the two youre unlikely to see more than a 25% increase in CPU performance at any point which wont result in a 25% increase in FPS but probably closer to 10% (since the cpu isn't all that drives the game). Fallout 4 is supposed to be a more CPU intensive game though. what FPS are you getting? at 1080p I would think what you have would be plenty for whatever you play. are you doing things in the background too such as streaming your game? that kind of situation is where I would expect you to see the most improvement from upgrading the cpu. I've had my fps cut in half when ive started streaming on weaker cpus.

Yes but installing drives wouldn't be a problem I suppose. They'd help actually.

No I never run stuff in the background except Steam as it has to be in the background while running a game.
I run Fallout 4 on high settings shadows medium and special effects all off, I get 58-60 vysnced in the wasteland but in cities I get 30-45fps...
If I played on low I would still get 90-100% usage in cities.

So I would like to get rid of this and so I'm hoping an i7 4790 would fix that..

There is also high usage in some of my other games that are rather new as well.

Regards

I mean the i5 4460's integrated graphics driver and chipset

I'm sorry, your main question was about getting a better CPU that would work fine in the future and I gave it to you.

You haven't listed any problems? All you said was high CPU usage, that's normal. Very few games can utilise the Hyperthreading of an i7 and those that do only seem to gain 5 or less fps from the benchmarks I have seen when compared to the equivalent i5. Personally I think you will end up spending a lot of money and being disappointed by the minimal gain you get. The 4460 is still a very strong gaming CPU, its not the best but its a strong player

Concerning games that rely on the CPU, yes.

(Don't forget to select a solution if you think any answer helped you as others may have the same problem as you)

The i7 is the 4790k and yes it does have a lot of difference in gaming.
3D Particle Movement: MultiThreaded : i7-4790k has 803.95 while the i5-4690 has 418.01 ...
