Hi. Well per the advice on another thread I will not buy an alienware machine that was around $425. I will attempt to try to build a gaming pc.

The most demanding games that I want to play is probably the Witcher Series (1-3).

I would be happy with the game being on medium settings with a framerate of at least 30.

So a full disclosure. I know nothing about computers. Please include the best/ easiest how to guide as well. My budget is $1000-1500. Perhaps in the future I would care about playing the latest releases like FallOut 4 but if this is not possible with the current budget that's okay don't worry about it. I really just want to play The Witcher 3.

Also this is my monitor. Is it decent? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824025094

Finally could you recommend a keyboard and mouse? This can be outside of the budget if needed. The biggest thing I want from it is comfort. My hands cramp easily with a keyboard and mouse but not with a controller. But since some games utilize keyboard and mouse I would like one that could be used for long sessions that are comfortable.

Also, I will be using ethernet internet. Also, in the list if you could include where to get them.

Thanks for helping a novice out! :)

Solution
the first build is a haswell cpu 1151 mb. the second for 30.00 more is the newer skylake cpu. both mb has build in ethernet if you needed wifi you can add a pci or usb wifi dongle. myself i would go with the newer cpu and mb if your going to have this rig for a bit. also if you can hold off on the gpu nvidia is dropping in 2106 there newer pascal gpu there a lot of leaks about the newer cards now.

The builds smorizio posted will run The Witcher 3 nicely. I just wanted to add in that The Witcher 3 is one of the more demanding current games. A build designed for Witcher 3 will also work fine with any other modern games.

I have spent a lot of time with both games and Fallout 4 is actually quite a bit less demanding on your hardware than Witcher 3. I just wanted to add that in so you know you will be able to play any game you want to with these builds.

Okay. Thank you. I am reviewing what looks best for me. The game I want to play the most is the Witcher 3 so that is great!

If I wait for the gpu would that replace any of the parts that you listed or is that a separate one altogether and you give an estimate no how much the gpu could be on release date?

on the build you would not buy the 970 that listed in the build. you would have to use onboard video port till the card dropped then install the new gpu. so you would not waste 300.00. you can wait for the card to drop then build or use your rig and this time next year when the prices of pascal go on black friday/cybermonday sales then upgrade the gpu then. with a gpu it push it into the mb into the video slot then connect a few power cables. swapping a new card in and out take only a few min. you could then sell your older 970 in a year for some cash as it would still be a high end gaming card.

The problem with waiting for pascal is that no one knows for sure when it will be available. If you build the PC without putting a GPU in now you won't be able to play games like Witcher 3 at all.

If you are choosing to wait for pascal you would be better off not building anything now. Pricing may drop on other parts while you wait and other new components may be released.

Thank you all for your help and I am glad that it is around $1000. I can manage that. I have an Xbox One but I have not bought games like the Witcher because I would rather play them on better settings on PC.
