So i wanted to connect my Windows 10 (Enterprise - x64) PC & Windows 10 (Enterprise - x64) Laptop using CAT6 Crossover Cable. I have connected cable on both ends and on PC end, it blinks light but on the other side, there is no blinking. I have made the following configurations for my PC and Laptop : -

PC : -

IP Address :- 192.168.1.21
Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1 (Auto Fill)
Alternative DNS Server :- 192.168.0.1 (Auto Fill)

Laptop : -

IP Address :- 192.168.1.20
Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1 (Auto Fill)
Alternative DNS Server :- 192.168.0.1 (Auto Fill)

Both systems are set to "Workgroup" and both systems name is different. One is "Bilal-PC". My Laptop is "Bilal". I have also restarted both of my PC's but no gain. Both shows "No Internet Access". So what is the issue? Anyone here to help? I would really appreciate as i wanted to move some of my important data soon. For more detailed troubleshooting. See the images below :-

Yes I know what a crossover cable is, you were saying that you were getting a "no internet access" message, that is correct since you are not connected to the internet when using the crossover...

I want to share data between my PC and Laptop using a crossover cable sir

An Ethernet crossover cable is a type of Ethernet cable used to connect computing devices together directly. It is most often used to connect two devices of the same type: e.g. two computers (via network interface controller) or two switches to each other.

There is no need of internet access as both PC's are bridged with each other using this special type of cable. Pin 1,2,3,6 are crossed of both ends (Not identical) , thats why it is called a crossover cable.

Yes I know what a crossover cable is, you were saying that you were getting a "no internet access" message, that is correct since you are not connected to the internet when using the crossover cable with no other connection on at least one of the computers. So there is no issues about you getting that message, it's normal for your setup.

If you are trying to share the hard drives this way, did you setup file sharing or at least know how to use the C$ share to get to the other system? Can you ping one system from another? Sometimes the firewall can block access like this, since you have them directly connected to each other it will be safe to shut off the firewall on both systems to do the data copy.

I have connected both PC's with a WiFi network and i have turned on network sharing on both PC's. I cannot ping my two PC's. When I ping, it says "request time out" and i haven't turned off firewall ...! I have also asked a network Professional and he said there is no other connectivity reuqired for the crossover cable to work.! Don't know what's right. :(

Are you saying that when you connect one PC to the other with the crossover cable, no other connection involved, you can't ping one computer from the other?

The "No Internet Access" message is a red herring; you will get that message if you haven't connected to the Internet.

Hold on, If you have them both on WiFi, why are you using a cross-over cable? If they are on WiFi on your router, they are already on the network, you just need to setup sharing on them. Try turning off the firewall and see if they connect.

Having both WiFi on and setting up a manual IP for the crossover cable will just cause you more confusion.

How is everything connected? If you are on WiFi on them, that means you have a wireless router, if you have a router, why are you trying to use a cross over cable?

I have used Network Sharing & HomeGroup Sharing on my 4MB WiFi Network, but it transfers data at the rate of 700 800 Kb so i purchased a cable and made it a Crossover. For now, the current situation is as follows, please somebody provide a solution as this problem is irritating me : -

PC : -

Laptop : -

PC cannot ping my laptop but laptop can ping it and i have manually assigned IP, Subnet and Gateway on both PC's and i left DNS fields blank for Auto Obtain.!

Ahh. Windows will prioritize connections. If you are WiFi enabled, it will automatically choose the WiFi IP address. You will have to manually set the connection type to the hardwire connection, taking the pc's off WiFi. Windows will only allow 1 IP address to be active at any 1 time. It's fine to have the IP's enabled, I have 2 sources on my pc, hardwire and WiFi, but to stay hardwire, I had to set it as default or my pc automatically connects to WiFi, not the hardwire IP address.

Unless you have an ancient setup, there is no way you should be on 4MB WiFi, or are you talking about cell data modem? List your networking equipment, you are leaving out a lot of details about how things are setup and connected at your house and without a full picture it's hard to sort out what you should be doing.

How is everything connected in the house? Do you have a modem, router, switch, etc...? Also why not just use an external USB drive to do the file copy? No need to mess with any odd setups with a crossover cable, which may not even be needed if you have a switch or router.

@hang-the-9, my brother solved this issue and he connected both PC's through a crossover cable without a mess. What he did, is he Assigned both PC's IPs, Subnet Masks & The Gateway (which i was not assigning). He then turned on "network discovery" (which was already on but just for knowledge for those who stuck in same problem). After that, he ping both PC's and the response was positive. But he cannot able to access the Shared Data becuase it said "You don't have permissions to access the data".
So,
He enabled the built-in Admin account, set a password 12345 and then bingo, my data started to transfer without any hassle and the "YELLOW - NO INTERNET ACCESS" sign didn't go. He said that you are not connected to a router or a hub so i will never go unless you are connected to a proper internet connection.! That was so easy and i stucked into it. Thanks everyone for the help.
There is only one small issue,
Try to understand,
I can access my PC's data on my Laptop but unable to access Laptop data on my PC. It is "requiring me some credentials" . Some password. I tried every possible solution but can't get pass through it but on Laptop, my brother disabled the password and it didn't ask me password during FTP. So, why on PC? How to disable it? :(

You need accounts for access to the shares on both computers setup. What I don't get is that you were saying you were connected to WiFi which is not often done without having a router setup, which is what made trouble-shooting this whole setup hard without good details and not being able to see what you were actually doing.
