I just built a new system and have ran into a problem I've never ran into before. The motherboard is GA-Z170N-gaming 5. I got everything together and installed windows 7 no problems. Note... Bios saw my external DVD rom and installed windows 7 fine. After I got windows 7 installed I went to install the drivers from my motherboard disc and no longer was able to see my external DVD rom. Went back to my bios and my bios sees my DVD rom. When I boot to Windows it no longer sees it and can't install my drivers. Tried plugging my BlackBerry Priv in and it won't see that either. Only my mouse and keyboard are seen. This mobo only has USB 3.0 slots. It has a USB 2.0 on the inside of the motherboard and a conversion cable (which I tried) and still no external DVD rom in Windows. I am at a totall loss as what to do since I can't frikkin install my motherboard drivers. I tried several settings in the bios to no avail. I've done a lot of builds and this is the first time I have ran into this. Any ideas?

Thanks

Tipical drive problem. Download your dvd driver for manufactorer or try tu use a driver repository program like slim drivers ou Drive pack solution (best option for me).

Good Luck!

Guy from Gigabyte tech support had no clue what to do either. (Lovely) guess I'll go buy a sata DVD rom and hope that works. I'll post whether it works or not. Maybe with the new chipset the USB's are being goofy.
