Hey guys, ok I have been having an issue with my pc. for the past 3 weeks it has rebooted itself without warning. It has done this a total of 3 times with no blue screen but I am getting a bios error message which reads. 927-non fatal FSB error F7Eerr: detected MCERR from a processor.

2 of the 3 times it done this is when I was playing fallout 3 heavily modded but 1 time it did when my system was idle. I plan on running memtest over night later on this evening but I ran it a couple of months ago with no errors(i usually run it every once in a while overnight or during the day for a few hours just as basic maintenance)

My full specs are an hp xw 8600 workstation motherboard, 8 gigs of ddr2 ram, a gtx 960, 2 hard drives one is 640 gb the other is 1 tb, audigy sound blaster sound card. 800 watt server psu, win 7 and a standard ide DVD-RW drive.

Other than running memtest what would be the next course of action in troubleshooting? If memtest passes what else can cause an issue like this?

any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

The bios error message of Mce.

Is short for Machine Check Exception.

The bios can throw this error message up on your system based on the list bellow.

The most common reason for MCE events to occur are:

1.Memory errors or Error Correction Code (ECC) problems
2.Inadequate cooling / processor over-heating
3.System bus errors
4.Cache errors in the processor or hardware

The remedies for the errors are listed here.

1. The memory in the system is not EEC mode memory, but the option is enabled in the bios causing the error.
It can also work in reverse where the memory is EEC enabled but the option is disabled in the bios causing the error.

2. Self explanatory, check the cpu fan is spinning, and the temperatures of the cpu while in...

2. Self explanatory, check the cpu fan is spinning, and the temperatures of the cpu while in windows os, if the cooler on the cpu uses push pins that latch to the under side of the motherboard, for anchoring check to see if one has not come away causing the cpu cooler to lift off the cpu die. check all four push pins are firmly seated.Through to the back side of the motherboard.

3. The cpu may need to be taken out of the cpu socket, check for any bent, or missing pins on the cpu, or dirt on the contacts, and check the cpu socket for damage also, or missing contacts. Check that the bus speed set for the processor in the bios is correct, and the memory is running at the correct bus frequency depending on it`s speed rating. In the bios settings.

If the memory is overclocked in any way, it can be the cause of the error message.

4. Can be a result of the cpu being overclocked too much, and not enough voltage applied to the cpu core.
Or the cpu voltage is a bit low if the cpu is not overclocked in any way. increase by 0.250Mv in power to the cpu core.
