Hello,

This is the case that I have: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196 "Cooler Master Storm Scout"
I've had it for about 3 years and in that time I never had the molex connector for the back fan plugged in because my PSU didn't have enough connectors. I finally got a molex adapter that supplies me with an extra female and have it plugged in now. When I turn on my PC the fan will not start spinning until I tap it or spray it with duster. It's not dirty (As far as I can see). Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thank you.

Do any other case fans show this problem of only this one?

It sounds like the bearings might have gone out. I would connect it to a different plug, maybe one that is currently connected to a working fan, to see if it is the fan or an issue with the molex splitter you purchased.

Thanks for your reply!

This is the adapter that I bought. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA85V3DG9223 . The fan is not actually plugged into the adapter though, the way everything is plugged in is quite confusing. I have 5 fans powered by molex total. (2 aftermarket case fans, back case fan, top case fan, and front case fan, I don't know official names for them) The 2 aftermarket fans I have installed have a molex connector that has a male and a female, so it is going through several different conversions I'm assuming? There's so much going on with it, it's hard for me to explain or tell what exactly is plugged into what. But, the fan still functions once it has been tapped and continues to function once it gets going. Once its been off for any amount of time (computer turns off, goes to sleep, etc) and I turn the PC back on it won't spin until I tap it again. So would it still actually function if it wasn't getting enough power?
