I have a 120GB Samsung EVO SSD which I use for a boot drive. In the past couple of days it's gone from about 40GB free to 14GB free. I checked the "System Protection" settings and it's set on 5% max usage, so 5.33GB, but somehow the current usage is 9.07GB. This issue started after I installed Life Is Strange and Farcry 4 on a different hard drive (E drive) and is ongoing

I'm using Windows 8.1 and 3 drives

120GB Samsung EVO (Boot drive, one having the issue)
4TB Western Digital drive (The one I installed the games on)
1TB drive from an old system which is not being used

I'd assume that the games despite being installed on the other drive had to store some system files on the OS drive. Things like DirectX drivers, etc. So that might explain some of it. Also your pagefile and hybernation files will grow (often proportionately to your RAM size). You can disable and delete those if you need to free up some space.

After playing Farcry all day it's gone down to 13.3 GB but the only files having anything to do with Farcry 4 are like 120KB and the only files that have anything to do with Life is Strange are like 1MB

Do you have instructions on where to find the pagefile and hybernation files? That could be the problem

WinDirStat says my firewall (I use Zone Alarm) is taking up 13GB of space, does my firewall have to be installed on my C drive or could I reinstall it to the E or F drives?

Also says "hiberfile.sys" is using around 12GB, im guessing thats the hibernate file?
It also says my Temp files are using 9.9GB, any way to reduce this manually?

When using disk cleanup should I select everything in the list to delete or just leave it to the Windows default?

Also now Windirstat is picking up a folder called "WinSxS" that's using 7GB with just a load of really small folders

Zone Alarm isn't showing up under "programs and features" and the folder for it that's taking up alot of space on my SSD is just filled with a ton of temp files

Thanks so much for the help! I figured out how to uninstall Zone Alarm and now it says my SSD has 51GB of space available! :O
