Hello everyone! Just looking for some advice or some recommences on my first build. Im was thinking ti keep it around 1500$ (USD). I want the computer for video game, video editing. You know the general stuff and I'm also hoping to play at ultra on 1080p or 1440p.

Processor: Intel I5 6500 (skylake)

Motherboard: Msi Z107 Gaming M7

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 sticks)

Case: NZXT H440 or Corsair C70

GPU: EVGA GTX970 AC 3.0 4GB

SSD: Samsung 850 Pro Evo 256GB

HDD: Western Digital (black) 4TB 7200 Rpm

Power Supply: Evga 750w 80 plus gold

Im not sure should I spend more money for a speaker or optical drive?

Thank for the help everyone!

Oh. I currently have the logitech 502 mouse, can someone recommend a good mechanical keyboard. I was thinking about the logitech the G710+ keyboard. Seem pretty dope.

Looks like a really quality build. As for the keyboard (if you have the money to spend) I recommend that you take a look at the Logitech G910, the only downside is that it does cost a lot. Also its keys are shaped very differently so I would recommend going to a store and testing it before you buy. The G710+ is also very good though.

Don't need a Z170 board with that CPU, a H170 would do.
Hope the PSU is the G2. It's a lot better than the G1. you could use a lot less power too. 550W would be plenty unless you plan to SLI. If you get an ODD consider an external USB one. It can be used in many future builds.

Oh, Okay I see. I just check the Asus website for the H170 seem like a better choice for me. And for the power supply, I check the Newegg power consumption calculator, it tell me that I need some where between 750w to 850w. So I decide to go with a EVGA 750w power supply. So what do you think I really need, I kinda new to this things.

Thank you very much for the recommend of the Keyboard. I was thinking about the Logitech 910 as well, but I was also thinking about the k70 from corsair. Do you recommend that?

I would definitely recommend the k70, but once again make sure you go to a store or find some way to test the keyboard yourself before you buy. Especially when they are that expensive. Keyboards, in my opinion, are all about how it feels to you, yes the specs may be good, but if you don't like it, then it wont benefit you

I run an overclocked i5 and a GTX 970 very safely on a good 550W PSU, and a locked i5 and a GTX 970 on a good 450W PSU. The Newegg calculator is very conservative to allow for shoddy PSUs that do not always do what is needed. Your system will hardly exceed 125W and your GPU 150W. 550W is plenty. But wait and see what others say.

Agreed, he probably doesn't need to get that large of a power supply unless he plans to SLI in the future. I am running an I7 4790K (not overclocked), 8 Gb @ 2400, six case fans, a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming, a ssd, and an external drive all with a 520W PSU. It does work, however if he plans to overclock then I think either a 550W or 600W is good. I would recommend going with the 550W just to give some head room just in case he does decide he want to overclock in the future

SLI is basically when you get 2 or more graphics cards and connect them to get better performance

Without a big explanation, is is difficult for us to know exactly what you as an OP know or why you made your decisions. you initial configuration chose a locked CPU, a Z170 motherboard and a 750WPSU. That is not an especially efficient configuration. A locked cPU, a H170 board and a 550W PSU would be 'standard'

However, if you planned to add a second GTX 970 in the future, to gain about 75% more graphics performance, it would be have been wise to start with that motherboard and PSU combination. SLI is a proprietary technology used by NVidia-based GPUs to link two of them together to share the graphics load.

It is not clear that you had no such intention, so the earlier recommendation of a H170 motherboard and a 555oW PSU stands.

I see. I don't think I need an "extra" GPU, but however I won't overclock anytime soon. So seem like your recommendation seem like a better choice for myself.

(170$)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB GAMING 256 (350$)

So it turn out differently, I decide to OC my CPU and here is the part I picked up!

Case NZXT H440 (120$)

CPU: Intel I5 6600K (Skylake) LGA1151 ($260)

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (35$)

Motherboard: Asus Z107 Pro Gaming LGA1151 (170$)

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB GAMING 256 (350$)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2*4GB) Red (89$)
SSD: SSD Samsung 850 (2.5) pro 256GB ($150)

HDD: Western Digital Black 2TB 7200RPM 3.5 (120$)

Power Supply: Corsair CS650M ATX PSU (90$)

Total: the PC (1384$)

I did not say lower power, 650W is plenty. I said lower performance. The Corsair CS range are good 'mini-van' PSUs. However, you are building a 'race-car'. You started with an EVGA 750 Gold. The EVGA G2 750W is an excellent PSU. You then moved to this Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 B2 80+ BRONZE, 750W Semi Modular NVIDIA SLI and Crossfire Ready 5 Year Warranty Power Supply 110-B2-0750-VR (57$) which is a very good PSU. Go back to it or get the at the moment cheaper EVGA G2 650W. It is extremely good and high performance.

The cheapest PSU I would use for your build is the XFX TS 550W Bronze.

PSU prices are very fluid. The general approach is to buy the best PSU that is powerful enough and within your budget, no matter how powerful it is.

Thank you very much. I will reconsider my option. I was thinking return the power supply, since I had not open the PSU.
