Possible CPU/Motherboard problem - BIOS doesn't seem to load, no monitor output

The company I worked for changed offices recently. We have a bank of computers used for remote storage, running simulations, etc...
On Monday, the computer in question was working. Wednesday, it was shut down and moved to the new office in the same lot. Total travel distance: ~40 feet.
Somehow, during that move, something (not sure, I wasn't there) happened to it.
First indication that something was off was after my boss wired it up and turned it on, no image showed on the screen. He tried using HDMI, DVI, and VGA cables, and 3 different monitors. No dice.
I tried installing a new graphics card, however it had the same problem.
I could not connect the monitor to the motherboard since it does not have any video output, only audio, USB, eSata, fiber optic, PS/2, and Ethernet.
Motherboard model: ASUS M5A99x EVO R2.0 with AM3+ socket. Not sure what model the CPU is.
I initially chalked up the new graphics card not working as a driver issue, however, I noticed that the status light on the optical drive was flashing around 2x per second, and when I hit the "eject" button, the tray would not open, unless I hit the chassis' restart button. I could also feel the HDD spinning while the power was on. Finally, the internal speaker would not beep to indicate that the BIOS had loaded.
I connected the HDD to a separate computer and it checked out (no corruption or damage).
I then tried replacing the motherboard and CPU with an older model that had been in mothball (a Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 rev 2 with an AM3 socket). It would load the BIOS, and the monitor displayed the loading screens when connected to the new graphics card. However, after the BIOS loaded it could not find a usable OS. I chalked this up to the system having an older CPU.
Afterwards, I re-installed the current CPU/motherboard combo, and the same problems outlined previously still applied: no output on the monitor, CD tray only opening/closing after hitting the restart button on the chassis, no speaker beep to indicate the BIOS loaded.

The coworker who moved the chassis stated that he held it by the outside when he carried it, and that nothing happened that would damage it. I'm a bit skeptical, because it shouldn't have stopped working if nothing happened.

Any ideas as to where the problem is occurring, and what possible solutions might be? Please note, I do not have spare CPU's/motherboards that I can interchange to test where the problem exists.
