Media test failure, check cable

I see some similar threads, but nothing that answers my specific problem. I ordered an HP desktop system off ebay, with windows 7 on it. Every time it boots up, it gives the error message in the title. It goes by quickly, and eventually gets into win7, but I'd like to make this go away. It says "intel boot agent", maybe some other stuff, then "media test failure, check cable". Another thread suggested moving hard disk to the top of the boot sequence in bios, but this had no effect. I'm not sure why an unusual boot sequence should result in an error anyway... Thanks for any help.

Solution
Go into the BIOS of that system and look for the onboard device options.
Find the LAN Adapter and disable the Boot ROM option.
That should solve the issue.
Also check in your Boot options that booting from LAN is not before booting from DVD, USB and Hard Drives.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have those options in my bios, but you did give me the hint I needed. I went into security/lan adapter and disabled network boot. that solved it.
