Hi, I recently built a new pc and my video card isnt being read. It is a MSI R9-390 video card connected to a Gigabyte Z170X-UD5. Any video out from the gpu will not work (black screen).

Currently, I have the power supply routed into the 8 slot port, not the 6 if that makes any difference. No fans are spinning, MSI light is on. What am I doing wrong and what can i do to fix it?

I had called MSI this morning about this and they say you do need both the 8pin and 6pin connected. And I found out myself that they need to be separate plugs in separate power ports on the supply to get it working. Using one cable for both ports has the fan moving but the display not working.
