Hi I just wanted to know people's opinion on this build. I'm in a video game design program and I'm in need of a new computer. The teachers recommended that we should get an i7 core, 12GB+, and a NVIDIA graphic card. Would this be a good build?

Tbh though I don't like the price of $1400-something.. I really wanted to keep it under 1100 and that's with keyboard, monitor, mouse, Windows 10(or whichever OS) but I wasn't sure if I should go with the newest gen i7 or an older version..

Thanks.

Use a Haswell i7 and H series motherboard. It will save you $100-200 and only drop performance 5-10%. And if you are developing a game then I might actually drop your GPU down to a R7 265 or only a GTX 750. I am assuming that the graphics are not going to be too intensive for something like this. And also because the 750 Ti isn't a good value at that price.
