Good afternoon,

I recently purchased HyperX Fury Red Series 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 in the Black Friday sales.

I'm upgrading from my old corsair triple channel 3x2GB @ 1066MHz kit.

The motherboard I have is the AsusTech P6TD, which I understand in the specification state:

"Triple-channel DDR3 2000(O.C.) / 1866(O.C.) / 1800(O.C.) / 1600(O.C.) / 1333 / 1066 Memory"

With the RAM being 1866MHz, I went into BIOS and changed the default value (of what I cant remember) from "Auto" - which was 1066, to 1866.

I understand the new RAM is quad-channel and the mobo only runs triple, I read around this.

Is this all I have to do for the RAM to work at full speed? No voltage change?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Usually when you populate the ram slots on the X58 platform the best performance is seen in triple channel kits. Back then voltages for aforementioned ram kits were higher with 1.5~1.65v kits. I don't think you'll need to go as far as setting them manually as the board can operate off of the XMP profile. In either case are you looking towards an overclock for your system? Since the 1866MHZ dictates you run your CPU as well with an overclock. It may be unwise to run an overclock for your kit on your platform with a dual channel kit and to add more food for thought are you capable of dissipating the heat from your aforementioned overclock?

Please pass on your full systems specs.
