Hi guys. I have an old HP compaq 8200 Elite CMT. I am having a problem, I think, with my motherboard. After pressing the power button, i get a blank screen and the fan just revs up. I tried removing the battery and the ram and the graphics card and replacing it all back but to no avail. What possible motherboard can I replace it with keeping my processor and psu? Thank you.

The original motherboard uses non-standard power supply connectors.

This custom PSU won't work with a non-HP retail boxed motherboard. This is not a normal PSU. It's not just a matter of wiring up a conversion plug. POWER_ON line handling is different too.

For this reason I would invest in a bare PC case. You have a mini-tower, a mid-tower is a little larger and uses Micro-ATX and ATX, while the mini-tower uses Micro-ATX form factor.

You also need a power supply for a new motherboard.

I've got the same issue. Bought from E-bay 1 month ago. They are selling like hotcakes $115 for mine at auction. Should have done a little more research first I guess. I thought the above solution sounded great but all the part links provided are currently out of stock.
This is a known issue and I didn't do my homework. Unfortunately somebody profited from my stupidity. As long as they can sleep at night, enjoy!
