Hey guys -

So at one of my local vendor, Microcenter, they have a refurbished Corsair AX 760 watt ATX Power supply on sale for $96. I tried asking both Microcenter and Corsair why this item was refurbished but they do not have a way to track individual item and figure out why they were originally refurbished. All they know is it is working fine.

Microcenter offers 90 days parts and labor warranty and according to Corsair all their refurbished PSU comes with 1 year warranty.

Given the price and reliability of Corsair's one of the top PSU model, AX, do you guys think it is safe to buy refurbished PSU? Just scared that it will burn my machine down!

If it is not safe, my next purchase choice would be RM750i for $115 ($95 after $20 rebate).

Thanks for reading, and let me know your thoughts!

I'd say go for it, if it comes with a warranty anyway. If an AX fails, it won't damage your hardware it will just fail. :D
That's why you get a high quality PSU. Also the AX is better AND cheaper than the RMi. :)

A got a AX860 and i connected a somehow broken (i guess) bluray drive to it and it failed but my whole system was still totally fine. Got it replaced (warranty) and now works 100% fine. :)

I personally would go for it

Thanks for the response. I did some research and it looks like EVGA 750W G2 80+ Gold is also a very good PSU. The new one from Amazon.com is $90 right now. Do you think this is better choice instead of refurbished AX 760?

EVGAs G2 series is also a GREAT PSU series, you can't go wrong with both PSUs. :)
If you get the EVGA new for the same price, or even a bit less, i'd take the EVGA.

Both PSUs are rated as Tier 1 PSUs by tom'sHARDWARE, so both are great. :)

Here's the list if you want to take a look:
