Hi!

I have a Toshiba Satellite L50D-C-13G laptop. It has an AMD A10-8700P APU with Radeon R6 graphics, 1x8GB RAM, and a 240GB SSD in it. The GPU performs quite well, however I wanted to get a bit more out of it. Since the GPU uses system memory as its own frame buffer, I was planning to get another stick of 8GB ram for dual channel, since it would give some performance boost. (as i discovered on the internet) The only issue is, that even with 2x8GB of rams, the system is still running in single channel memory configuration. I asked Toshiba support, if it is possible to make a BIOS update that allows the system to run in dual channel mode, the answer was that it is not possible because of the desgin of th motherboard. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but the APU has the MC built into, so it shouldn't be the motherboard design that doesn't allow dual channel. So my question is, is it possible to modify the official BIOS rom with one of the softwares online, so that it will have dual channel support, or a switch for it in BIOS? Sorry for the long post. Thanks for the further help.

Is it possible for you to state/link the ram that you had populated in your unit as well as the ram that is existing in your unit? This post would best sum up what most would say how dual channel works. Modifying BIOS isn't a solution as they are developed by their own appointed Dev team at/by Toshiba.
