Difference between gigabyte gtx 970 g1 and normal gigabyte windforce 3x????

To quote someone from another thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2330676/gigabyte-gtx-970-gaming-windforce.html

"The g1 goes through a process gigabyte calls The Gauntlet. They take the gpus that are allocated to them, put them through special tests and pick the best of the best in terms of power delivery, efficiency, etc and use those in the g1. This can translate to better overclocking, thermals, and energy efficiency. Might be something to consider..things like, the windforce led light and back plate are added bells and whistles."

I would say it is not worth it as performance will be VERY similar.

The G1 basically has a higher overclock out of the box, so it will perform slightly better (more FPS) than the standard Windforce.

For £20 I personally don't consider the slight boost worth it, I'd put that money towards another part of my rig.

Non g1 card has no backplate,it's not necessary but it's good to have one,g1 comes factory overcocked,i's say to go for the asus/msi/evga cards,if you are on a budget,G1 is slightly bigger too, might fit your case not, with that, gaming performance is basically the same, you can always manually OC the card tho'
