Below is a list of components I'm planning to use:

CPU: i5-6600K
Cooler: CRYORIG R1 Universal 76.0 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: ?
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB SSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card
Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home

I had originally intended to purchase the non-k i5-6600 along with an H-170 motherboard, but found a great deal on the k so I purchased it instead. I don’t have any plans to overclock. With that said, which motherboard will bring the most value for the money? Budget is important, but I don’t want to go cheap.

For context, I plan to play games like Age of Wonders III, Endless Legend, and Pillars of Eternity. It is unlikely that I will play any first person, 3-D shooter-type games. In addition to gaming, this computer will serve as our family computer. I intend to use only one 1080p monitor.

Thanks in advance to those who are willing to help.

Well the H170 chipset is for non-k cpus/ non overclocking, however they do offer better features and are built better. I would go with ASUS its one of the top companies and I know on AMD MSI cuts down on the VRMs, either one will be good option.

I didn't know that. I suddenly find myself open to overclocking. If I were to plan to overclock, which of the two motherboards that I referenced would you recommend? (I really want to stay with full size ATX.)
