I want to move my old hard drive to a new computer I am going to build. I was wondering if I use an SSD as the boot drive (with windows), can I still use the hard drive with all my games and stuff on it without having to download them all again?

I am using windows 8.1

Solution
"all my games and stuff"

That is a broad range of 'stuff'

Steam games? Probably
Other games and applications? No
Music/Video/Doc? Yes.

You can use the old drive, but the programs wont work. I recommend getting a new drive, or like a big USB stick and transfering the files you want onto it, like your docs, pics, videos etc.

Then wipe the old drive and set it up to hold your programs again and set your docs/pics/downloads, to path to the old hard drive.

If you do it like you suggest, you will still have access to your files, but the programs will be a mess (you'll have to reinstall most of them) and you'll have a big dirty old hard drive.
