I want to transfer my old hard drive to a new computer I am going to build. It has lots of games/software on it that would take forever to reinstall. Since I know I can't just use that hard drive in my new computer because of hardware change, can I use it in addition to an SSD? (The SSD will be the boot drive with windows, not the hard drive, although the old hard drive will still have windows from old computer on it)

Using Windows 8.1 atm if its important

Should work totally fine, as long as you boot from the SSD. I would do it this way: unplug the HDD, only put in the SSD, install Windows on it and select it as the first boot device, put the HDD back in and then just start and delete your old Windows. :)

Sure you can use it again. I mean the HDD. You can use it as often as you want in as many PCs as you want. Only thing you probably can't use again is your Windows key.

Just put a new Windows on the SSD and then put in the HDD and it should work without any issues. :)

Thanks, so even if windows is still present on the old hard drive but not being used it will be fine? I'll of course delete it when I get access to it on new pc
