im getting a new ssd, how can i clone my boot drive to it??

im upgrading to a SSD to replace my boot drive. how can i make an exact copy of my old drive to it so i can plug it in and take off where i left (but much faster obviously lol )
SSD im getting Samsung EVO 850 500GB

(I do have a back up PC. if that would make it easier by putting both drive in it and letting it host the cloning )

I suggest using the Samsung Data Migration Software, it comes with the SSD but can also be downloaded from the tutorial above. It would also be worth looking over the user guide before actually cloning, also available from the tutorial above.

Easiest way is to put new ssd in old computer and simply let included Samsung data migration tool do the rest. You'll want less than 400gb on the old drive before you try to clone

about 210gb of 250gb (its an old seagate barracuda 250gb hard drive ) my pc is starting to take around 3 or 4 minutes to fully boot

That will work just fine for a direct clone, plenty of space to spare between your old HDD and new 500GB SSD.

However...the current OS on the HDD is 'getting slow'.
You're just cloning that same issue to the new SSD. It will be faster, but still gunked up.

Clean the gunk off the OS first, then clone.

okay thank you i know the drive is probably around 7 years old or so (was originally out of an old vista pc of mine and i upgraded to windows 7 on it)

Just add the ssd to the computer and go for it. No need to move the hd. That's how ive cloned my last few. Works fine and is literally 50x faster than using a USB setup since
