I wanted to add wireless network adapter to my gaming machine I have Netgear N600 so will newer network adapter work if I plan to upgrade the router later on and is add in card faster than usb connector?

Solution
Yes, 802.11ac USB adapters are backwards compatible with 802.11b/g/n (as long as you don't configure it to "ac only" or something like that)
usb sticks are used most time if the pc and router are near each other. pci wifi cards can have more output (mv) then the usb sticks and can get better range. if the router on one side of the home and the pc is on the other look at power line unit. if not them look at high power usb and pci cards. with the wifi cards spend the extra money make sure it a 5g card. sometime if your in a condo there to man 2.4g devices and wifi range and speed sucks.

Do they make 3.0 network adapters to be faster?

No, the unit itself is called a "Network Adapter". The one you are talking about plugs into the USB port so they're technically called USB Network Adapters, or USB adapter for short.

As for are they making USB 3.0 ones, the answer is yes because the newer N and AC standards allow for speeds that exceed USB 2.0's max of 480mb/s. The fastest N and AC can do 600mb/s on 2.4 and as much as 1300mb/s on 5 (at least theoretically, practically its much less).

The only reason is probably price. I'd use AC if it was an option if only for future proofing even if your router was the older N (or even B or G) standard. It would operate in N (or B or G) mode until you upgraded your router to an AC one, and then it would detect that it was connected to an AC router and start working faster.
