I just upgraded my CPU to a i5-3550 here is my build.
Operating System
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i3 2120 @ 3.30GHz
RAM
8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz
Motherboard
MSI P67A-GD55 (MS-7681)
Graphics
4096MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
Storage
119GB M4-CT128M4SSD2
931GB Seagate ST1000DM003-1CH162
PSU
ModXStream Pro 600W 80Plus

I have only plugged in the cpu and heatsink with my PSU and it does not power on. It only turns on for a brief second then turns back off and repeats. I tested my PSU with the paperclip and it works fine. I think I might have damaged my mobo when i installed the heat sink over the new CPU. I have also removed the battery to clear cmos witch I have out again because I am going to wait 30 or so minutes.

I have done countless other things and really dont know what else to do. I am more than certain everything is connected correctly because everything was running with my old CPU before this but after the install of the new one the old one doesnt seem to work anymore either.

Please someone out there help me. I am all out of idea except for buying a new mobo. If thats the case could I have some suggestions that would fit my current build.

Thanks for reading.

I have tried to put in my old processor and it does the same thing as the I5. That why I was thinking I broke my mobo some how. So theres no real way for me to upgrade the bios.

Right. Apologies, I went back and read that after the fact.

If you've done the things in this:

to try to narrow down the solution, then you may be correct.

In general you're looking for motherboards with a 1155 socket. This one was a budget favorite:

I went through that checklist earlier. But this is what happened. I cleaned out my PC deep cleaned. Put everything back together it booted fine. I got my new CPu later that day. I then put it in and it wouldnt boot. I immediately took it out and put in my old one and it didnt boot either. So it is more than likely the mobo since I also tried to run just the mobo cpu and heatsink and it didnt boot. This really sucks.
