New computer, motherboard hot even while idling

Just built my second PC. The one I made 5 years ago worked fine but it's time to upgrade for the new stuff coming out. I'm using this as a personal computer and also for gaming. I don't get hardcore about it, I don't demand Ultra graphics on everything.

CPU: AMD FX-8350
MB: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+
DRIVE: Crucial BX100 500GB SSD
VID: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2G
OS: Windows 7.1
RAM: Crucial 8GB
CASE: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower
PSU: Rosewill 650W 80+ Gold Fully-Modular

I finally got everything hooked up, ran it to install basic drivers and programs, and noticed that just while sitting at the desktop and not doing anything else, the Northbridge (AMD 970) was hot to the touch, and so was the Southbridge to a lesser extent.
The motherboard on my current computer almost NEVER gets hot, even during rigorous gaming sessions, so this kind of freaks me out.

Can anybody offer me an explanation and/or solution?

DRIVE: WD Blue 500GB HD
VID: ASUS GeForce GTX 550 Ti
OS: Windows 7
RAM: Crucial 4GB
CASE: Antec Three Hundred Mid Tower
PSU: hec XPOWER780 600W

I'm not really sure what most of these readings mean, but...

CPUs (8 cores) are all coming in at between 30-55 Celsius, usually 30.
TMPIN1 is about 33-45 Celsius, usually 41.
TMPIN 2 is about 27 Celsius constantly.

Touching the board by hand, the bridges still feel quite hot, much moreso than my old rig. Can't use AMD Overdrive on that since it doesn't use AMD chipset. And I don't really have a frame of reference for if these temps are considered normal or safe.

Overdrive measures cpu temps as a thermal margin . Thats a measure of how much hotter it can be and still be safe . Big numbers are good . Small numbers mean its getting hotter.

Board temps are measured the same way . TMPIN1 is telling you that the board can be 41 C hotter and there will not be a problem

So is it likely that this particular motherboard just runs hotter than others when performing normally, and it shouldn't be an issue?

Actually no the AMD's do not run hotter . The intels have smaller coolers and run to about the same temperatures .

AMD temps are measured accurately by Overdrive which he is already using . Third part solutions often do not work .
I suggest you download overdrive and check your temps
