Worth upgrading 7870?

Is it worth upgrading from the 7870 to a comparably priced modern card yet? (~$300-$400 or so)

I've been finding the performance of my 7870 slightly lacking recently and have been tempted to upgrade but is it worth putting out another $350 or so right now or is the jump in performance not worth it at that price point?

Would this be significantly better?

I would go with the 970 and yeah its going to be a very significant fps boost assuming your cpu is up to par to handle it

Yes, though you're comparing two different leagues of cards.

The R9 380 matches with the GTX 960
The GTX 970 matches with the R9 390

and at the R9 390 / GTX 970 level you will get a huge performance increase. I could never recommend a 970 though when its price is similar to an r9 390. Not when considering likely performance differentials a couple years from now.

I have an i7 3770. It was good in 2012, idk if it is still good. I kind of stopped paying attention to computer component improvement stuff after I built my computer.
