Swapping Motherboards Same model

I know that if you upgrade or change your motherboard to something different you either must have a retail copy of windows to install or purchase a new one. However, I am swapping my motherboard with the exact same model. Will windows require authentication again? I'm probably not going to do this if it invalidates my copy of Windows.

Even if it does, you could call and get it reactivated.

Yep.
You could in fact even use a different model if it's the same socket. Either way this is considered a "repair build" and if you were called to re-activate it would be a simple couple clicks when prompted.

It will require reactivation.

In the case of an exact same replacement for a broken board, MS will [strike]almost certainly[/strike] authorize that. Simple call to the phone robot.
But if it ain't broke, why are you replacing it?
