If this ia the wrong catagory please let me know. I was just wondering if it is at all posible to use an extremly old computer case with all new parts(New Mobo, CPU, RAM, PSU, and sata hdd/dvd). My two options are a dell xps d333 and Alr Evolution IV( sorry theirs nothing online about this one).I'm unsure if a new motherboard will fit and line up in the screw holes along with the rear I/O and Expansion slots. I'm aware I could buy a new case for cheap but I find it more fun and cool to use the older parts.

As long as the motherboard standoffs and I/O plate align with the case you should be fine. You'll also want to make sure the case connection cables (for the power button, audio jacks etc.) will also work with the motherboard you have in mind.

That is an issue. The power buttons will no work on either more than likely(Definitly not the ALR as its wired to the psu). The xps d333 may but I'm unsure. There are no front audio or usb on eithee case so I would buy a front plate something like this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/271873573465?
I'm most afraid of the I/O plate not fitting but I don't have away to check

If the case is standard ATX for the PSU and motherboard mounts, then you should be able to use most modern hardware regardless of how old it is.

For the case that has a power switch wired directly to the PSU, that sounds like an AT power supply and you won't find any modern PSU or motherboard that will fit in an AT case since the AT standard died about 17 years ago.

I just really liked the case(Its build great) but if its no atx than its out of the question. I honestly just though it was a specisl psu never thought about diffrent mobo type. For the other I can't seem to find if it is an atx. I belive it is though. I don't wanna buy one than have it not fit. Do you think I'm better off just buying a case?

There are a lot of issues with Dell MB swaps. They not only use proprietary connectors for front I/O, they change them from time to time. Also Dell cases have metal tabs that stick up under the MB to support memory, and expansion sockets. If all the slots aren't in the same place then you will have metal right under live solder points. They can be folded down, and new supports glued in, just more work. Dell makes the rear I/O part of the case so it will need to be cut out to fit. Dell stopped following BTX form factor after it was no longer supported, and moved expansion slots around into the I/O area on some boards. Bolt holes were moved also mostly on SFF stuff. This can leave a metal support at MB height under a live component and would require Dremel to remove it. I would suggest if you find a Dell MB you like get the whole computer that goes with it. I have several MBs I bought intending to swap, and a case I modified to do it. I never used any of them, I got good results modding what I already had.
