Will my 500w 80+ Gold be able to handle my rig if I was to replace my cpu with an i7 4790.

My Current Rig:
CPU:i5 4440
GPU: GTX 970 Zotac
Mobo: Acer
HDD: WD blue 1TB

My PSU specs:
FSP
500w
80 + Gold
+12V1 @ 14.OA
+12V2 @ 16.OA
+12V3 @ 18.OA
+5VSB @ 2.5A
-12V @ 0.3A

I was hoping my PSU would be enough because If I upgrade my PSU I will be forced to upgrade my Motherboard also as my mobo and psu both have a 12pin power connector as they're Acer manufactured

Thanks in Advance :D

OK. That PSU is an old design with three rails, and the sum of all the 12V rails is 48amps. If the PSU had all of those rails fully loaded it would need to deliver over 570W. That's not going to happen though.

However, I run an i5 and a GTX970 on a good 450W PSU. Any of those GPU rails, if they deliver what they say, can run that GPU, so that PSU should do.

Yes it does as I'm using my 970 now. But I bought a budget case from CiT and the PSU slot is at the bottom and my mobo power cable and this other random cable can't fit across to the mobo. It's not a standard motherboard, neither a standard PSU so I can't go buy extensions, even if I could I'd prefer not to run off extensions for my psu xD
