Just for clarification, yes. All processors need some type of cooling. However, the stock cooler that comes with most (if not all) retail processors is sufficient for normal operations.
Well yes without a heatsink and fan it will burn up causing damage it / the case needs to have a few fans in there to pull cooler air in and remove hot air out.

Not recommended. REQUIRED. A processor requires that at the minimum, the stock heat sink and fan are installed. This is before any other case cooling is taken into consideration
As stated the stock cooler that comes with the retail version of most processors is sufficient for this.
