So, I noticed that games like Shadow of mordor and Just Cause 3 would stutter when look around too quick or if there are too many enemies in the vicinity. (FPS never dropped below 59)
I monitored my CPU, GPU and HDD usage and all three were running well below 100%, also the GTX 970 RAM was not exceeding 3GB on the recommended settings that I had (Textures: High, FXAA + motion blurr, 1440p resolution)

My Computer is never powered down and is always running. So I restarted the computer and now the stuttering is gone.
Does anyone know why this happens? Is there some kind of memory buffer or perhaps RAM that fills up over time and is not getting cleared without the computer being restarted?

Simple answer, you are running Windows and things like that are expected.

Real answer, not sure what the issue could have been. Your system (as I am sure you know) has some very nice specs and should handle those games just fine. I would not worry about it so much, especially if you find that the problems go away after rebooting. (assuming the reboot was after the system was on for many days, not just a day or two).

Perhaps someone else can come up with a real answer or a nice theory but i would not worry so much about it if it only happens when the system has been up for a long time (several days + ).

My Linux servers do fine at 100+ days but my windows servers rarely make it past a couple weeks without something stupid happening.

Thanks for the inputs guys. I've got a hunch its windows or perhaps Directx which might now be clearing memory. Cause the funny thing is, that even though I have 20GB memory, the OSD during gameplay only shows 12GB for some reason.
As for the malware, any suggestions for a good malware software? I use the free version of Malware bytes. I update and run it once in a couple of weeks, usually only thing I get is the PUPs, which malwarebytes gets rid of. Is there anything else I should use for optimization perhaps?

For good anti malware, it's two steps

1st malwarebytes

2nd Hitman pro, it's a 30 day demo with no limits, I would uninstall malwarebytes before running it, I've had malwarebytes do it's best to shut that program down.

Also is your windows legit? If not you may be fighting a no win battle.

I've never tried Hitman Pro is it better than Malware bytes? What I like about malware bytes is that it doesnt run crap in the background and doesnt constantly push you to buy the paid version and I've had good experience with it so far.
And yes, I have Windows 10 Professional Licensed copy
