Why switch the cpu cooler to a heatsink? Does it perform better, or just better for the pricing? I was told to get liquid coolers if you overclock since it keeps it cooler and is quieter.

Read a couple things about the psu and ram, and that change definitely looks much better. Thank you both for your time.

i see. it also seems much more space efficient than the liquid cooler, and i wouldn't have to worry about leaks. i've been researching a bit more online about the best mid- level video cards and I came across the r9 390. many people actually recommend the r9 390 over the 970, and gave reasons such as the 390 having more v-ram, and thus is more future proof. though current gaming applications are more core focused, in the future there will be better driver support and utilization of vram, so even if both perform similarly now, the r9 will outperform later. also the 970 apparently only has 3.5g of vram, instead of the 4gbs they claim!?

what are your opinions of the 390 vs 670?
