So my idle is 18C to 34C. With an average of 32C. My load never peaks 48C, and takes a couple of hours to get there. I am wondering if my FX-8100 CPU can handle a good overclocking, how far should I go, what should I use to do it (probable AMD's default CPU Overdrive I believe) and what kindof (Gaming Wise) performance boosts I should see/expect. I use Piriform's Speccy in combination with CPUID HWMonitor to monitor temps, use, ect. Any help would be great, thanks!

I've always OCed AMD and Intel chips in the Bios. Not familiar with "AMD Overdrive". I'd begin by first incrementally increasing your base clock and or multiplier until you get to 3.5-4gHz max or where it's not stable anymore. Once you get to a point where your idle temps are exceeding 40-50 degrees take it down 100 MHz then stress test it for 24-48 hours. If it's stable then there's where you want to be. If you aren't satisfied you can try to squeeze 30-40 MHz more out of it but at that point the benefits are negligible. If it's not stable take it down a little more and repeat. You'll see a good amount of speed increase. Good luck!
