When overclocking, is the wattage the only thing I should worry about when it comes to the PSU?

I have a 4th tier power supply (Corsair CX600). I want to keep my wattages under 500 in case it explodes. So I'm considering buying a GTX 970. It's low wattage means I can overclock it to a fair degree, and still maintain under 500 watts. Is this ok? Is there something else I'm not considering, that might blow up my computer?

Wattage is actually one of your last concerns otherwise HCF 1000W crud would do it.

The PSU is lower-performance than is needed. Not lower power. Not lower efficiency. A truck engine can produce 800H.P. a race car engine can produce 800H.P. Which engine is too low performance for competitive car racing? :)

The quality of the power that the CX produces is less than overclocking needs. It is not 'smooth' enough, and not stable enough for overclocking. Use something else and read the comments on the PSU Tiers thoroughly.
